Pro Ganjang Gejang Sinsa
27-1 Jamwon-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul
It’s about time I update my blog with a post from a not-so-recent trip to Seoul, Korea. It was my first trip there and the whole trip was packed with food and more food. A couple of my friends have already been to Seoul a few times in the past and seeing that I did not know as much as they did, I followed wherever they wanted to go.
We ended up in Sinsa-dong and the obvious lunch choice for this place is Pro Ganjang Gejang, which is most well-known for their soy sauce marinated raw crab. You might have picked up from previous posts that I’m not a big fan of seafood and I stuck to other dishes like the beef shortrib or the eel.
There was only one piece of crab left and I decided to try a tiny bit, just for the sake of trying and to get an understanding of why everyone was raving about it. IT WAS AMAZING. Yes, this coming from someone who would never suggest to order any seafood items from any menu and would never suggest to go to a seafood restaurant to begin with. IT WAS AMAZING.
The mix of light sweetness and savoriness from the crab and the sauce that blended everything together was simply amazing. You can also tell the freshness of the crab from the slight crunchiness of the meat.
The next challenge will be to find a place that serves Korean marinated raw crab that is equally as good as the one we had at Pro Ganjang Gejang, or to save up for another trip back to Seoul.
