Finally made it to Bistrot Paul Bert, after fatasslovesfood said that it’s highly-recommended by May from Little Bao. I was in the Bastille area today and decided to pop in for a quick lunch.
From the moment I stepped foot into the packed bistro (you’re sitting elbow to elbow but trust me, it’s worth it), I knew that I would have to come back. I ordered the fricassée de foie lapin aux champignons without knowing what to expect and fell in love. I even used my complimentary bread to scrape off all the juice left on my plate after. Yup, it was that good.
The duck breast were perfectly cooked. I ordered mine “rose,” which my très gentil waiter explained meant “less cooked.” Although it was perfectly cooked, I thought it still lacked a bit of seasoning. This is why I still think Canard et Champagne serves the best duck breast.
I was too full to try their Paris-Brest but it’s definitely one of my top priorities before leaving the city!
